BIO

L. D. M. completed her master degree in “Clinical, Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology” at the University of Milano-Bicocca, discussing a research project devoted at investigating the neurophysiological underpinnings of cathodal tDCS by means of TMS-EEG. She is currently attending a PhD in “Psychology, Linguistic and Cognitive Neuroscience” integrating behavioral measures with eye-tracking and fMRI data to explore logic reasoning and decision-making processes. Under the supervision of Prof. Romero Lauro, she developed a fine expertise in the field of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, namely tDCS, TMS and TMS-EEG. Lilia enriched her theoretical background completing one-year post lauream advanced training in Clinical Neuroscience, graduating with an experimental thesis aimed at providing new insights on the efficacy of tDCS as a complementary tool for the treatment of substance use disorder.

Her main research fields concern the feasibility of applying non-invasive brain stimulation techniques to modulate cortical excitability. She is interested in exploring the mechanisms of action of brain stimulation and how high order cognitive functions, as language and attention, could be affected through their application. Moreover, Lilia is deepening the field of clinical application of NIBS within psychiatric populations, studying how brain stimulation could strengthen standard rehabilitation protocols efficacy. She is actually exploring how tDCS could improve the recovery of addiction focusing on samples of patients suffering from gambling and substance dependence.
